The church blends elegant Baroque curves with refined decoration. -Livraria Lello: A beloved bookshop and architectural gem; legends link its iconic red staircase to inspiration for the Harry Potter series. -Port Wine Cellars (optional): Visit famous lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia (advance booking recommended) to learn production and enjoy tastings. -Douro River cruise (optional): About 50 minutes—enjoy riverfront scenery, terraced vineyards and views of Porto’s bridges.
Óbidos – a charming medieval town, said to have been a wedding gift from King Dinis to the queen. -Óbidos Castle: A hilltop medieval castle now converted into a historic luxury hotel; walk the walls for views over the town and countryside. -Church of Santa Maria: The main town church on the central square; known for 17th-century azulejo tiles. King Sebastian I married here at age 10 (1575). Sintra – renowned for Romantic architecture, fairytale palaces and castles; a UNESCO World Heritage cultural landscape. -Pena Palace: A colorful hilltop palace blending Gothic, Renaissance, Moorish and Manueline styles; spectacular viewpoints over the surrounding park. -Quinta da Regaleira: A mysterious estate with Gothic-inspired architecture, gardens and the famous Initiation Well leading to underground tunnels. -Moorish Castle: Medieval fortifications along the ridge with dramatic views over the mountains and coastline. -Sintra National Palace: One of Portugal’s best-preserved medieval royal palaces, recognized by its twin conical chimneys.
